India’s D2C revolution is only just beginning. In the first seven months of 2021, Indian D2C startups raised $783.7 Mn — 251% higher than all of 2020 — and the influx of capital has not only resulted in thousands of new brands but also introduced Thrasio-like disruptive models such as ecommerce roll-ups, houses of brands and more while giving enablers and digital sellers new opportunities to grow.
After hosting India’s largest ecommerce conference earlier this year, we are back with something even bigger. We are glad to announce the 2nd edition of – The D2C Summit — to enable India’s D2C businesses and online sellers to scale up, reach new heights with insights, advice and tips from the who’s who of the ecommerce industry. Inc42 is one of the first startup-focused media platforms to champion the D2C cause in India, and this is evident in everything we have done since 2020.
As part of our mission to foster a community of over 1 Mn+ digital entrepreneurs and empower them with insights, knowledge and upskilling opportunities, Inc42 is hosting the second edition of The D2C Summit on December 03-04, 2021 to empower India’s digital sellers and D2C brands in the burgeoning internet economy.
Today, India is a thriving market of small and medium digital businesses, with over 50,000 digital-first brands and more than 15 Mn active online sellers and the stage is set for the next phase in the D2C revolution. So this time around, we will go beyond just D2C brands and focus on the challenges and trends for online sellers, ecommerce marketplaces, enabler ecosystem, service providers and agencies, traditional retailers going online and India’s massive online consumer base.
Supported by Trell and Pay10, The D2C Summit will feature over 5,000+ attendees and a star-studded lineup of 100+ expert speakers. This edition will be about surfacing proven strategies and tactics from global ecommerce and D2C experts so that emerging brands and online sellers in India can scale up to become the next Licious, BoAt, Lenskart, SUGAR.
“It’s a fantastic idea to bring small D2C brands to the forefront. D2C 2.0 summit will have bigger access to brands in metros and remote places alike. It will enable a seamless trading network that can also be used to support practical information exchange between sellers and commerce platforms,” said, Pulkit Agrawal, CEO & Co-founder, Trell.
We have planned 50+ sessions covering areas such as product design, development, sourcing & manufacturing, fulfilment strategies, sustainability, social commerce strategies, marketplace and social media selling, influencer marketing, augmented reality shopping, customer experience (CX) strategies as well as team-building, fundraising and exit strategies.
The previous edition of The D2C Summit featured luminaries such as Deepak Shahdadpuri managing director, DSG Consumer Partners; Vineeta Singh, cofounder & CEO, SUGAR; SoftBank’s Vikas Agnihotri; FirstCry cofounder and CEO Supam Maheshwari; boAt cofounder Aman Gupta, Saahil Goel, CEO and cofounder, Shiprocket; Vivek Gupta cofounder, Licious; India Quotient founder Anand Lunia among others.
“I believe that this summit is a unique space where ecommerce and D2C companies meet each other face to face and there are experts to help you build and scale up your ecommerce business. The D2C segment in India is still at a nascent stage and I believe the 2nd edition will greatly help the upcoming sellers, especially the ones selling via digital channels in upscaling their business, said Sakshi Chawla, founder and managing director, Pay10.
We have lined up 100+ speakers — from founders to brand marketers to online selling experts to investors — and 100+ brands for the second edition to take the experience to the next level.
“The advent of video platforms and the rise of social media usage among millennials and Gen Z has strengthened the entire ecosystem. This provides an excellent opportunity for direct-to-consumer (D2C) firms to capitalise on and enhance their accessibility through social commerce platforms in order to engage with customers of all ages and income levels across the country. This will expand the scope for brands and enable them to continue operations in spite of contact restrictions and other confinement measures,” Trell’s Agrawal added.
After the success of the two editions of D2C Day in 2020, our playbook on India’s D2C Rush and The D2C Summit, the D2C Summit 2.0 represents the next phase in India’s ecommerce journey.
